Honda’s MotoGP rider, Joan Mir, expressed his dissatisfaction with the penalty given to Marc Marquez after a collision between the two during the sprint race in Jerez. Mir believed the penalty was unfair and inconsistent with previous decisions. Marquez, who had fallen from the lead, made an aggressive move on Mir in the final corner, causing Mir to drop out of the top 10. Mir was frustrated because he had received a similar penalty last year for a collision with Fabio Quartararo. Mir questioned the decision, asking how this was possible. Marquez admitted fault for the collision, but suggested that Mir also had a role in the incident. He compared it to a pass by Brad Binder on himself, where he yielded to avoid a bigger problem. Mir acknowledged that he was not angry with Marquez, but criticized the move and the inconsistency of the penalties. He believed that contact during overtakes is acceptable, but forcing a rider off the track is a different matter. Mir also pointed out that Marquez passed Miguel Oliveira in a similar way. Oliveira said he needed to be faster to prevent Marquez from easily overtaking him.
