Miki Koyama Set to Join All-Female Formula E Test with Lola-Yamaha ABT

Japanese Super GT Championship driver and Toyota Gazoo Racing development talent Miki Koyama is set to participate in the upcoming all-female Formula E test at Valencia next month. This exciting opportunity marks her return to European racing for the first time since her 2021 W Series stint, where she secured a best finish of fifth at the Red Bull Ring.

Koyama, who has been active in various Japanese motorsport series, including Super GT, Super Formula Lights, and Formula Regional Japanese Championship, won the latter’s 2022 title. As part of Toyota Gazoo Racing’s driver development program, she has been honing her skills across multiple formats and recently debuted in the Toyota GR Cup North America.

The Lola ABT team, in collaboration with Yamaha, has brought Koyama on board for this highly anticipated test session, showcasing her growing influence in motorsport. This aligns with Yamaha and Toyota’s deep-rooted technical partnerships, further strengthening their ties in the automotive and motorsport world.

Full Driver Lineup for Valencia All-Female Test

Several other prominent female drivers are also set to hit the track for this special event:

  • Porsche: Marta Garcia, Gabriela Jilkova
  • DS Penske: Beitske Visser, Jess Edgar
  • Nissan: Abbi Pulling, Sophia Floersch
  • Andretti: Chloe Chambers, Nerea Marti
  • Envision: Alice Powell, Alisha Palmowski
  • McLaren: Bianca Bustamante, Ella Lloyd
  • Maserati MSG: Tatiana Calderon, Carrie Schreiner
  • Lola-Yamaha ABT: Miki Koyama
  • Jaguar, Mahindra, Kiro: TBC

Notably, Lola ABT and the newly-renamed Kiro team are expected to each run a single female driver. Kiro, which will field Porsche powertrains for the upcoming Formula E season, is likely to confirm Simona de Silvestro, a Porsche-affiliated driver, for the test soon.

In addition to the all-female test lineup, Kiro will also conduct testing for Porsche reserve driver David Beckmann and their mainstay Formula E driver Dan Ticktum during the three-day event.

This test session represents a major step in promoting female talent in motorsport and will showcase some of the top rising stars as they take on the electric racing world at Valencia.
