Mika Hakkinen elogia Fernando Alonso enquanto ele renova seu contrato com a Aston Martin até 2026.

Fernando Alonso, a veteran in the world of Formula 1, has made the bold decision to continue his career in the sport for a few more years. Recently, he renewed his contract with Aston Martin, a decision that was praised by former F1 world champion, Mika Hakkinen. Hakkinen admires Alonso’s enduring passion and motivation for the sport, considering it incredible given the length of his career.

Alonso has committed to staying with Aston Martin for another two years. Hakkinen reflects on how things were different in the past and expresses his admiration for Alonso’s dedication and patience. The Spanish driver’s decision to keep racing until at least 2026 is met with astonishment, as Hakkinen shares his own experience of needing a break from the immense pressure that comes with racing, testing, and constant travel. In contrast, Alonso now faces a grueling schedule of 24 races per year, compared to the 16 races he was accustomed to during Hakkinen’s time.

Having made his debut at the Chinese Grand Prix in 2001, Alonso has been part of the sport for almost 23 years. Despite the challenges that come with age, he remains determined and will compete at the technical Shanghai International Racing Circuit. Alonso has already discussed his plans after retirement and the difficulties that come with aging. By extending his contract, he affirms that he still has more races in him.

Although Alonso has had discussions with other teams, including Mercedes, he has chosen to continue with Aston Martin. He clarifies that these discussions were only casual and did not lead to serious negotiations. Alonso has been leading the Aston Martin team since 2023 and had a successful campaign last year, securing several podium finishes. Based on his performance so far, he hopes to continue to succeed in the coming years with the team.
