VIDEO – MIDNIGHT EVTOL TRANSITION FLIGHT LANDS ARCHER $55 MILLION MORE FROM MAJOR CARMAKER

Archer, a California-based company, has achieved a significant milestone in the world of aviation. The company recently completed the first transition flight for its aircraft, the Midnight. This achievement is even more remarkable considering the size of the aircraft involved. Archer holds the record for the largest aircraft to achieve a successful transition flight.

The Midnight is a Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) aircraft that has garnered attention for its potential to revolutionize transportation. What sets it apart from other VTOLs is its partnership with Stellantis, one of the world’s largest carmaking groups. Stellantis, the owner of well-known car brands like Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler, has been involved with Archer since 2020 and has become a major investor in the company.

In addition to providing financial support, Stellantis has also taken on the role of contract manufacturer for the VTOLs Archer will produce. A new facility is currently under construction in Georgia, where Archer’s VTOLs will be built. This partnership ensures that Archer has the necessary resources and expertise to bring their vision to life.

The Midnight’s transition flight took place on June 8 and showcased its ability to seamlessly switch between horizontal and vertical flight at speeds of up to 100 mph. This capability is rare among aircraft of its kind and further solidifies the Midnight’s potential as a game-changer in the aviation industry. Not only is it technologically advanced, but it is also one of the largest VTOLs, weighing in at 6,500 pounds.

Impressed by the Midnight’s performance, Stellantis has decided to increase its investment in Archer. The car company recently announced that it will provide an additional $55 million in funding. This funding will support Archer’s ongoing operations and further development of their VTOL technology.

Archer is currently in the process of building a manufacturing facility in Covington, Georgia. Once completed, this facility will have the capacity to assemble 650 aircraft per year, making it one of the largest assembly facilities in the aviation industry. Archer’s long-term goal is to produce around 2,300 aircraft annually.

What sets the Midnight apart from its competitors is its specific focus on air taxi services. Archer envisions the Midnight as a replacement for long, time-consuming commutes. With estimated flight times of just 10-20 minutes, the Midnight aims to revolutionize transportation by offering efficient and convenient air taxi flights.

Unlike other VTOLs, the Midnight will require an onboard pilot. This ensures the safety and reliability of the aircraft while also allowing for the transportation of up to four passengers on rapid back-to-back flights.

Archer’s collaboration with Stellantis, combined with the Midnight’s advanced capabilities, positions the company as a frontrunner in the development of VTOL technology. With ongoing investments and the establishment of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, Archer is poised to make a significant impact on the future of transportation.

Introducing the Midnight: The Electric VTOL Taking the Skies by Storm

In a groundbreaking development, the Midnight, a revolutionary electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft, is set to change the way we travel. With its ability to move up, down, and sideways thanks to its impressive twelve electric motors, this cutting-edge machine is a game-changer.

Powered by six independent battery packs, the Midnight boasts incredible speed, reaching top speeds of 150 mph (241 kph). While it was initially designed for a limited distance of 100 miles (160 km), this is more than sufficient for its intended purpose as an in-city hopper.

One of the most remarkable features of the Midnight is its minimal charge time of just ten minutes between flights. This means that the aircraft can remain airborne for the majority of the day, ensuring maximum profitability for its operator.

The exceptional capabilities of the Midnight have not gone unnoticed by the American military. In fact, they have invested a staggering $142 million, making it the eVTOL company with the largest total contract value. It’s clear that the military sees the potential of this flying machine.

While the Midnight has already received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its airworthiness criteria, it is currently undergoing rigorous testing. Over the next few months, the aircraft will undergo a series of piloted flight tests and simulations, gradually increasing in complexity.

As the program progresses, new in-air maneuvers will be introduced, showcasing the true capabilities of the Midnight. The outcome of these tests will determine the level of investment Stellantis, a major player in the industry, will provide to Archer, the company behind the Midnight.

Excitingly, the first commercial flights of the Midnight are expected to take place in 2026. International markets, particularly Abu Dhabi and Dubai, will be the first to experience the wonders of this electric VTOL. Get ready to witness the future of transportation unfold before your eyes.
