SCHUMACHER FAMILY AUCTIONS LUXURY WATCHES
The Schumacher family, which has not been seen in public since he suffered a serious accident while skiing off-piste in 2013, recently put eight watches up for sale. These watches, which include brands like Rolex, F.P. Journe, and Audemars Piguet, were auctioned by Christie’s. Among the watches was a personalized F.P. Journe watch with a special message engraved on it, a Christmas gift given to Schumacher by his Ferrari team boss, Jean Todt. This particular watch reached an impressive value of 1.5 million Swiss francs, surpassing its estimated value of up to 2 million francs. Another personalized watch, a Royal Oak from Audemars Piguet, was also sold for a significant amount of 415,800 Swiss francs, exceeding its estimated value of 150,000 to 250,000 francs. Remi Guillemin, Head of Watches at Christie’s in Europe, expressed his satisfaction with the enthusiasm of collectors who appreciated the historical significance of these watches. These watches are part of a larger collection owned by the family. The auction was initially scheduled for Monday but was postponed due to a cyber attack on Christie’s. (Reported by Cecile Mantovani)
