The Dallas Cowboys are in desperate need of a new defensive coordinator. Following the Washington Commanders’ decision to hire Dan Quinn as their head coach, Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones are now faced with the daunting task of finding a suitable replacement. However, team legend Michael Irvin believes that this shouldn’t be too difficult of a task.
During an appearance on Undisputed, Irvin expressed his well wishes to Quinn and thanked him for his contributions during his three-year tenure in Arlington. However, Irvin also made it clear that he wasn’t overly impressed with Quinn’s work, which is why he isn’t concerned about him coaching in the same division as the Cowboys.
“I wish Dan Quinn the best. Now it’s time for the Cowboys to find someone to stop the run,” Irvin stated.
Irvin highlighted the fact that Quinn’s defenses have consistently struggled against the run. He hopes that the Cowboys can find a coach who can finally address this issue, especially after their disappointing loss to Aaron Jones and the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.
This has been a recurring problem throughout Quinn’s career, as his teams have consistently been vulnerable against the run. On the other hand, the Commanders have significant cap space and a solid defensive line, providing Quinn with the resources necessary to address this issue and potentially compete in the NFC East.
