Miami GP Track to Host Year-Round Racing with New Configurations: Expands Beyond F1

The Miami International Autodrome, known for hosting the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, is set to transform into a year-round motorsport hub with the introduction of four new track configurations. This ambitious expansion is aimed at establishing the venue as a prime destination for various motorsport events while fostering South Florida’s vibrant automotive culture.

Since its debut in 2022, the Miami GP has quickly become a staple in F1’s growing American market. Now, the circuit is poised to take on an even bigger role with the addition of configurations ranging from a 19-turn, 2.8-mile track to a compact 1.43-mile loop. These new layouts are designed to accommodate more local events without disrupting the surrounding community or requiring road closures.

Expanding Horizons: New Track Layouts to Boost Local Motorsport Scene

Tom Garfinkel, Managing Partner of the Miami Grand Prix, highlighted the transformative impact of these changes, emphasizing the circuit’s potential to engage with the burgeoning motorsports community in South Florida.

“This is an exciting time to be a motorsports enthusiast here in South Florida,” Garfinkel said. “Our investment into the facility and construction of the inner loop creates five track configurations worthy of the world’s most elite drivers and allows us to engage with the growing motorsports community of South Florida while also respecting the impact to local residents and businesses.”

The revamped track is set to become a hub for various automotive events, creating new opportunities for car enthusiasts, educational programs, and career pathways for local youth. The expansion represents a significant investment in South Florida’s motorsport landscape, aligning with the region’s deep-rooted car culture.

Ferrari Racing Days Set to Debut on New Layout in 2025

As part of the expansion, the Miami venue will host the Ferrari Racing Days from May 14-18, 2025, on the new Extended Marina Loop layout. This prestigious event, featuring the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, F1 Clienti, XX Programmes, Sport Prototipi Clienti, and Club Competizioni GT, will take place just two weeks after the 2025 Miami Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, Formula 1 will continue to use the original layout of the Miami International Autodrome, with the Miami GP scheduled as the sixth round of the 2025 F1 season. Lando Norris famously clinched his first win at this year’s Miami GP, seizing victory with a perfectly timed Safety Car intervention.

A Future-Ready Motorsport Hub

Construction on the expanded layouts is slated to begin in October 2024, marking a significant step in Miami’s evolution as a year-round racing venue. The upgrades not only position the Miami GP circuit as a versatile motorsport destination but also solidify its role as a key player in the global racing landscape. With its strategic expansion, the Miami International Autodrome is set to deliver high-octane thrills beyond the traditional F1 calendar, catering to a wider array of motorsport fans and participants.
