MG has revealed the first official images of its new 100% electric SUV, the MG ES5, which follows the trend of the brand’s latest models with an attractive design. It features a front section without a grille, generous air intakes in the bumper reminiscent of the MG Cyberster, while the split LED headlights are slimmer.
At the rear, the standout feature is the taillights that are connected by a light bar that spans the entire trunk, in a shape similar to that used in the MG4.
Inside, there is a flat-bottom steering wheel, a digital instrument panel, a generously sized infotainment system screen, and a floating console.
The new MG SUV is based on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) from SAIC and measures 4.47 meters in length, with a wheelbase of 2.73 m. It is powered by a single electric motor located on the rear axle that produces 168 hp and a torque of 250 Nm, allowing for an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds.
In China, the new MG SUV will offer three battery options, the largest of which will have a capacity of 62.2 kWh and a range of 525 km CLTC.
It is already known that the new fully electric MG ES5 will arrive in the European market in 2025.
