MG reforça aposta na eletrificação com o novo MG S5 EV

The MG has introduced the new MG S5 EV, a 100% electric SUV that combines the success of the MG4 EV with a more refined driving experience, cutting-edge technology, and a spacious, premium interior.

Measuring 4.5 meters in length, 1.85 meters in width, and 1.62 meters in height, the S5 EV is slightly larger than the MG4, but offers greater storage capacity with 453 liters compared to the hatchback’s 363 liters, which can expand to 1441 liters with the 60:40 split rear seats folded down.

Inside, the highlight is the 12.8” central touchscreen and the 10.25” digital instrument panel. With optimized graphics and quick response, it includes physical buttons for essential functions, such as climate control, minimizing distractions while driving.

The interior features materials like soft plastics and suede-like finishes in the wireless charger area.

Inspired by the sporty MG Cyberster, the design of the S5 EV combines an athletic presence with the elegance of an SUV. Notable features include the front section with a divided grille and headlights with a checkered flag light signature. From the side, attention is drawn to the 17” wheels for the base version and 18” for the top variant.

In the national market, the new MG SUV will be available in two versions, Comfort and Luxury, and features an electric motor with 170 kW (230 hp) of power and 350 Nm of torque, powered by a 49 kWh or 64 kWh battery, allowing for a range of up to 480 km (with the 64 kWh battery).

In terms of charging, the MG S5 EV battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes for the smaller capacity battery, while the 64 kWh battery takes 28 minutes, with maximum charging powers of 120 kW and 139 kW, respectively.

“The MG S5 EV reinforces our ambition to provide relevant electric solutions and democratize electrification for Portuguese consumers. With two levels of autonomy, a high level of equipment, and a competitive positioning, this new SUV represents a very solid balance between versatility, comfort, and innovation. We believe it will be well received by both private customers and companies.”, said Ricardo Lotra, Sales Manager of MG Motor Portugal.

MG has already announced that the new S5 EV is available in the national market with a starting price of €33,390 for the Comfort version, while the Luxury variant starts at €39,990.
