Novo MG4 XPower já tem preço para Portugal: desde €44 090

MG, a subsidiary of the Chinese company SAIC, may announce the location of its first factory in Europe as early as next summer.

According to “Automotive News Europe,” which cites two sources close to the brand, MG already has a clear idea of where its first factory in Europe will be located and what the new production unit should offer.

The new factory is expected to have an initial production capacity of 100,000 units per year and to begin operations 12 to 16 months after final project approval, which has yet to be designed.

MG is also considering moving forward with a second factory, which would also need to have a capacity of 100,000 units per year, rather than expanding the first to 200,000 vehicles.

It is worth noting that in 2024, Spain, specifically the Galicia region, was indicated as the location for MG’s factory, benefiting from easy access to maritime transport with the UK, which remains MG’s most important market in Europe.

However, following the European Union’s decision to impose special tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, the Beijing government warned the Chinese automotive sector not to invest in EU countries that voted in favor of the tariffs, including Spain.

It should be noted that Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, and Slovenia were the only EU countries to vote against the tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles.
