Mercedes will not decide Hamilton’s replacement soon.

The boss of the Mercedes team, Toto Wolff, stated that he will take his time before deciding on a successor for his Formula 1 team next season. This comes in response to reports from Germany suggesting that Andrea Kimi Antonelli has already been chosen to join George Russell in the team. While Lewis Hamilton, 39 years old, announced his move to Ferrari in 2025, he will continue racing for Mercedes for now. There are speculations that Antonelli, a young protégé, may be the chosen candidate for next season, but there are also rumors that Mercedes may try to attract Max Verstappen from Red Bull, despite his contract running until 2028. However, any possibility of acquiring an experienced driver would depend on the team’s performance in the near future, according to Wolff. He believes that improving the team’s ability to consistently reach the podium and win races independently will attract the best drivers. Hamilton supports the team’s aspirations and has expressed his desire to end his tenure with Mercedes on a high note, stating that he still has a strong will for success. With 103 victories, Hamilton holds the record for the most wins in F1 history and has enjoyed a successful partnership with Mercedes since 2013, winning six of his seven F1 titles with the team.
