Mercedes driver George Russell shocked the Formula 1 world by clinching a podium finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix, but it wasn’t without controversy. Russell has now lifted the lid on a theory surrounding Charles Leclerc’s unexplained loss of pace that aided his climb to third place.

Leclerc’s dominant performance at the Hungaroring took a sudden turn after his final pit stop, allowing Russell to overtake him swiftly. Russell, who was puzzled by Leclerc’s sudden drop in speed, suggested that Mercedes suspected foul play to avoid disqualification.

In a post-race interview, Russell hinted at suspicions that Ferrari might have tampered with the car’s settings to prevent exceeding the allowed plank wear limits. This theory arose as Leclerc’s Ferrari significantly slowed down in the closing laps, raising eyebrows among competitors and fans alike.

Russell’s revelations have sparked discussions and debates within the F1 community, questioning the ethics and tactics employed by teams in the pursuit of victory.

As the dust settles on the Hungarian Grand Prix, the spotlight now shines on Ferrari and their handling of Leclerc’s race performance. With Mercedes raising concerns and Russell voicing suspicions, the aftermath of this revelation is sure to send shockwaves through the paddock and beyond.
