Mercedes revela “teaser” do Classe C elétrico

Mercedes-Benz recently unveiled the new 100% electric version of the GLC, the first model based on the MB.EA electric platform, which precedes the new fully electric version of the C-Class.

The brand recently revealed a teaser showing the front section of the new C-Class, similar to that of the new GLC with EQ technology. The new electric C-Class will also adopt the new “Iconic Grill” illuminated grille from Mercedes-Benz and is expected to have a longer length than the combustion version, which measures 4.75 meters, as well as exceed a width of 1.82 m. A longer wheelbase is expected to contribute to a more spacious interior.

The new electric C-Class will be based on the platform that the GLC has just debuted (MB.EA), which is specific for electric vehicles. This means it will adopt the same 800 V architecture that, in the SUV, allows for charging up to 330 kW in direct current (DC).

It is therefore expected that it will also adopt the same batteries and electric motors as the GLC, which in the presented version (400 4MATIC) combines a 94 kWh (usable) battery with two electric motors (one per axle), for a total power of 360 kW (489 hp).

The powertrain of the C-Class with EQ technology is expected to be largely identical to that of the new electric GLC, which in the presented 400 4MATIC version combines a 94 kWh capacity battery with two electric motors, one per axle, for a total power of 489 hp.

In terms of autonomy, if the GLC announces 713 km in the combined WLTP cycle, the lower and aerodynamically optimized Class C is likely to point to 800 km on a single charge, depending on the version. If confirmed, it will become Mercedes’ electric vehicle with the greatest range, surpassing the 793 km of the CLA.

The teaser revealed by Mercedes only shows the exterior of the new 100% electric Class C; however, the interior should be similar to the new electric GLC, utilizing the second generation of the MBUX Hyperscreen, a 39.1″ screen that spans the entire width of the dashboard and connects the instrument panel to the infotainment system.
