Mercedes reigns supreme: Aston Martin exits F1 safety car partnership, leaving a powerful legacy

New Official FIA Safety Car and Medical Car from Mercedes-AMG for Formula 1®

Aston Martin Bows Out: Mercedes Takes Over as Sole Supplier of F1 Safety Cars!

In a dramatic twist that’s sending shockwaves through the Formula 1 community, Aston Martin has officially decided to withdraw from its role as a supplier of safety and medical cars, leaving Mercedes as the undisputed champion of the track! Starting in 2026, the iconic German automaker will take the reins, supplying its powerful AMG GT Black Series for all 24 races of the season.

This unexpected announcement marks the end of an era, as Aston Martin and Mercedes had been sharing the spotlight since 2021. The British luxury brand contributed its Vantage F1 edition, a car that boasted an impressive 656 horsepower thanks to its AMG-sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. However, this model faced criticism from drivers who claimed it lacked the necessary performance, leading to questions about its future.

Aston Martin’s deal officially concluded following the 2025 season, and the company has opted not to renew its contract. In a statement to the media, Aston Martin expressed gratitude for its five-year partnership with Formula 1, stating, “Aston Martin’s agreement with Formula 1 to provide the official FIA safety and medical car concluded at the end of the 2025 season. Having amplified the brand’s return to F1, we are grateful for the association and success of holding this critical role on the grid for the past five years.”

So, what’s next for the illustrious marque? While fans may mourn the loss of the Vantage and the luxurious DBX707 SUV, which acted as the medical car with a staggering 697 horsepower, all eyes will now be on Mercedes. The German powerhouse will not only continue to dominate with its AMG GT Black Series but will also provide its medical car based on the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+.

The stakes are high, and the pressure is on as the legendary Bernd Maylander, the FIA’s safety car driver since 2000, prepares for another adrenaline-fueled season in a vehicle that promises to deliver unparalleled performance.

As the motorsport world buzzes with excitement over this seismic shift, one thing is crystal clear: Mercedes is poised to take center stage, and the best is yet to come! Will this change alter the dynamics on the track? Only time will tell, but fans and competitors alike are eager to see how this new chapter unfolds. Buckle up—Formula 1 is about to get even more thrilling!
