Mercedes faz jogada ousada para garantir Max Verstappen com acordo histórico.

According to reports, both parties have decided to make these discussions public for strategic reasons. Mercedes is actively seeking to sign Max Verstappen for the 2025 Formula 1 season as a high-level successor to Lewis Hamilton. Under the leadership of Toto Wolff, the team is making every effort to attract Verstappen, despite current challenges on the track. This season, Mercedes is ranked fourth after six races, a drop from last year’s second place. They are currently trailing Red Bull by a significant 175-point difference.

Despite these obstacles, Wolff is prepared to present Verstappen with a record-breaking contract offer, surpassing even that of Hamilton. Additionally, he is offering Verstappen a long-term ambassador role, which Hamilton did not receive. Wolff is also open to incorporating elements from Red Bull that Verstappen is familiar with, such as ensuring a position for Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s executive director, if necessary. Furthermore, Wolff’s strategy includes the possible hiring of Adrian Newey, who is expected to leave his current team. Discussions between Wolff and Newey were observed during the Miami Grand Prix, indicating a serious intent to increase Mercedes’ appeal to Verstappen.

The negotiations between Wolff and Verstappen’s representatives gained momentum after the Miami race, focusing on the feasibility of Verstappen’s transition to Mercedes. Reports indicate that both parties have decided to make these discussions public for strategic reasons. However, the decision is complicated due to internal conflicts within Red Bull, especially between Christian Horner and Verstappen’s group. Both sides bring significant advantages to the discussions. The main question is whether Verstappen will leave Red Bull. Although there is evidence of internal conflicts, the extent of Verstappen’s involvement is still unclear.

Journalist Mark Hughes suggests that, despite some favoring an immediate change, Verstappen seems inclined to stay at Red Bull in the foreseeable future. This is especially true as Red Bull remains a strong contender for future championships. With major regulatory changes expected in the sport, Verstappen’s decision is crucial as he strives to maintain his competitive edge. Therefore, while his current position at Red Bull offers stability and promising championship prospects, changing dynamics make a future move to Mercedes a tangible possibility.
