It has been a month since it was announced that Verstappen would be parting ways with Red Bull after the end of the 2024 season. This revelation put Red Bull in a difficult position as they had to quickly find a suitable replacement for the former champion. Given the internal power struggles currently plaguing Red Bull, Wolff may have the opportunity to snatch Verstappen from the clutches of the Austrian giant.

The reigning champions find themselves in disarray as their chief executive has been embroiled in a dispute in recent weeks. Additionally, Verstappen has publicly voiced his complaints against Red Bull team principal Christian Horner on several occasions. Now, Wolff has stepped in and expressed Mercedes’ willingness to welcome the Dutch driver to their team.

Wolff has expressed his desire to have the three-time champion join Mercedes as a replacement for the outgoing world champion. Previously, Wolff was seen with Verstappen’s father at the Bahrain Grand Prix, fueling speculation. Now, even Wolff has publicly declared his readiness to bring Verstappen on board. Consequently, this has intensified the pressure on Red Bull to resolve the issue.

With the ongoing dispute between Milton Keynes and Red Bull, Verstappen’s future with the team seems to be dwindling. However, the Mercedes team principal sees the situation differently. He finds it hard to believe that Verstappen would leave behind such a dominant car to join Mercedes.

Wolff seems confident that Verstappen will stay at Red Bull, despite the allegations the team is facing. Additionally, he explained that it is natural for every driver to aspire to be part of the best team and that Verstappen would not easily leave the team with which he has won several world championships.

Furthermore, the focus in the paddock will be on who will fill the void left by the departure of the Englishman from the Silver Arrows team. Although Verstappen seems to be the leading candidate, the crazy season is yet to unfold.
