Thinking about the upcoming summer, Mercedes-AMG has just revealed the CLE 53 4Matic+ Cabriolet, the most powerful version of the convertible CLE with 449 hp.
This sportier version of the CLE for “riding with the wind in your hair” is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder biturbo engine that delivers 449 hp and a maximum torque that can reach 600 Nm for a few seconds with the overboost function.
The addition of binary and power is the responsibility of the second generation of the 48 V mild-hybrid system, which is integrated into the nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, AMG Speedshift TCT 9G, and temporarily contributes with an additional 23 hp and 205 Nm, helping to achieve 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, and a maximum speed limited to 250 km/h (270 km/h optional).
Alongside the 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system, with Drift mode, which turns the vehicle into a pure rear-wheel drive, the new Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4Matic+ comes standard with a four-wheel steering system, allowing the rear wheels to turn up to 2.5° in the opposite direction of the front wheels at speeds below 100 km/h, and up to 0.7° in the same direction as the front wheels above 100 km/h. Furthermore, the ground connections have been improved through widened tracks, 58 mm at the front, 75 mm at the rear, and the inclusion of the AMG Ride Control suspension.
To brake this convertible, AMG equipped the CLE 53 4Matic+ Cabriolet with a high-performance braking system, with internally ventilated and perforated 370 x 36 mm discs with fixed four-piston calipers with AMG inscription at the front and internally ventilated 360 x 26 mm discs with floating single-piston calipers at the rear.
Aesthetically, the convertible variant CLE 53 4Matic+ presents a set of updates compared to its predecessor, featuring a grille with a more aggressive design, sportier bumpers, wider front wheel arches, more generous air intakes, 19 or 20” alloy wheels, as well as two dual round exhaust tips at each end of the rear bumper. Additionally, the optional AMG Styling package adds some aerodynamic elements such as a spoiler and a diffuser.
In the interior, the highlight is the 12.3’’ digital instrument panel, which is accompanied by an infotainment system with an 11.9-inch screen with electric tilt function that helps reduce light reflections when the roof of this Mercedes is retracted. The sport division of the German brand stated that the fabric roof takes 20 seconds to open or close in an operation that can be done while moving at speeds up to 60 km/h.
Furthermore, when the convertible top is folded, an electric partition separates the folded mechanism from the cargo area of the trunk, which has a capacity of 385 liters.
