Mercedes-AMG has revealed the new entry-level version in the sports range, the AMG GT 43 Coupé, which now uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, the same as the one in the AMG A 45 S, with 421 hp and a torque of 500 Nm, available between 3250 rpm and 5000 rpm.
The combustion engine is associated with an electric turbo, technology inspired by the Mercedes F1 race car, which includes a 48V electrical system that the brand says, in addition to the temporary increase in performance, also allows functions like deceleration and recovery for even greater efficiency. The 48-volt technology also increases comfort, as according to AMG, the transitions between start-stop and deceleration functions are almost imperceptible.
The power from the engine is transmitted through a nine-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and reaching a top speed of 280 km/h.
The first four-cylinder AMG GT is described as a sports car aimed at purists, and for that, the brand has endowed this model with a distinct appearance from the GT 53 and 63 with V8 engines, as it features a redesigned front bumper, large air intakes, as well as round exhaust tips instead of the traditional square ones.
Furthermore, the GT 43 Coupe now uses a suspension with steel springs and high-performance aluminum shock absorbers, as well as lightweight coil springs, no longer coming standard with the AMG Ride Control suspension with adjustable damping, which is now available as an option, along with rear axle steering.
The braking system features ventilated and perforated 390 mm discs with fixed six-piston calipers on the front axle, while the rear axle uses 360 mm discs with floating single-piston calipers. AMG revealed that the GT 43 Coupé offers different wheel options ranging from 19 to 21 inches, along with a fixed rear wing.
In the interior, the highlight is the 12.3’’ digital instrument panel, as well as the MBUX infotainment system with an 11.9’’ touch screen, complemented by standard Nappa leather sports seats. Optional are the AMG Performance seats with integrated headrests and increased lateral support, along with a wide range of customization options from the Manufaktur program.
