Mercedes-AMG is preparing to launch the first model on the AME.EA platform, a high-performance 100% electric model based on the Vision AMG prototype presented in 2022.
Mercedes’ sports division has now revealed the first images of the model being tested on the new platform in northern Sweden, near the Arctic Circle, with temperatures of -25 degrees Celsius, where it will undergo an intensive testing program.
Everything indicates that this sports sedan will offer a more dynamic driving experience than the AMG versions of the EQE, using axial flow electric motors in disc form with “an unmatched combination of power density, size, and weight” compared to traditional radial flow cylindrical motors.
The Affalterbach brand has already revealed that one motor can produce around 480 hp and weigh only 24 kg. In addition to the new motors, it is expected that the model based on the AMG.EA platform will use a set of high-density batteries.
