McLaren boss reveals shocking truth behind Lando Norris’s missed opportunity in F1 Belgian GP

In a jaw-dropping revelation, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has disclosed that the sensational double-stack pitstop strategy was within reach for Lando Norris during the recent Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix, but the young driver decided against it, ultimately costing him the race.

Despite Norris securing pole position and leading the pack at the start of the race, his decision to forego the double-stack pitstop allowed his teammate Oscar Piastri to take the lead under mixed weather conditions at Spa-Francorchamps. Piastri’s strategic move to switch to slicks earlier proved to be a game-changer, solidifying his position at the front of the pack.

Stella, while addressing the media, confirmed that the option of a double-stack pitstop was on the table for Norris, but the driver chose to deviate from the plan, opting for a different tire strategy. This deviation ultimately led to Norris falling behind Piastri after a slower pit stop, despite being on more durable tires.

The missed opportunity for Norris to capitalize on the double-stack pitstop has left fans and experts alike in disbelief, with Stella highlighting that the team did not impose a specific strategy on the drivers. Norris had the freedom to choose his tire strategy, and while the team had initially discussed using Medium tires, Norris went for the Hard compound based on track conditions.

As the dust settles on the Belgian Grand Prix, questions loom over Norris’s decision-making and whether a double-stack pitstop could have altered the outcome of the race. With tensions rising within the McLaren camp, the fallout from this strategic misstep is sure to have lasting repercussions on the team dynamics and Norris’s championship aspirations.

As Formula 1 gears up for the next race, all eyes will be on Norris and McLaren to see if they can bounce back from this missed opportunity and reclaim their dominance on the track. Stay tuned for more updates as the drama unfolds in the world of motorsport.
