After the presentation of the McLaren W1, the renowned luxury watch brand, Richard Mille, decided to create a model inspired by the new supercar from the British brand.
This is the RM 65-01 McLaren Automatic Split-Seconds Chronograph W1, a timepiece that beats at a rate of 5 Hz or 36,000 vibrations per hour, and allows for the recording of elapsed times down to a tenth of a second, while the vertical clutch of the movement and the two six-column wheels ensure precise and smooth activation of this special watch, which also includes a quick-winding system that allows the 60-hour power reserve to be rapidly charged.
Visually, this work of art from Richard Mille features a carbon case inspired by the body of the W1, while the design of the W1’s wheels was used for the titanium dial, and the crown is based on the grooves of the drive shafts of the new McLaren supercar.
Additionally, the RM 65-01 McLaren Automatic Split-Seconds Chronograph W1 includes many elements in Papaya Orange, including the rubber strap.
“Creating this fourth watch in the series gave us the feeling that Richard Mille and McLaren are in perfect harmony; we both work with the highest technical specifications and the most advanced materials. Ergonomics is as important for us as it is for them, and our design language seems to have come together. The interaction between our two teams and the partnership that has developed is simply very strong,” said Julien Boillat, technical director of Richard Mille.
It is already known that the production of the RM 65-01 will be limited to 500 units, each priced at €250,000.
