McLaren impresses at the 2024 Australian Grand Prix. The team made significant improvements compared to the previous season, dedicating themselves greatly during the second half of 2023 and the winter break. This year, McLaren managed to score points and achieved their first podium at the Australian GP. However, the McLaren boss acknowledges that there is still work to be done.

Despite the positive start, the Woking team is not yet at the desired level. Their star driver expressed some discomfort with the MCL38. The car still faces challenges at low speeds, especially in long corners. In light of this, Andrea Stella admits that there is still a long way to go before McLaren becomes a front-running team in Formula 1. Currently, McLaren holds the third position in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship.

The team addressed the weaknesses of the MCL38’s predecessors and made improvements. The MCL38 is an enhanced version of the MCL60, but there were still areas that needed attention during the winter break. According to Stella, it will take a considerable amount of time to properly address the weaknesses of the 2024 challenger.

played a significant role in the development of McLaren’s new car, the MCL38. Sanchez, who previously worked as an aerodynamics specialist at Ferrari, joined McLaren before the 2024 season. However, due to changes in job responsibilities, both parties mutually agreed to part ways after several discussions. During his three months at McLaren, Sanchez did not have the time he had anticipated. After his departure, he will take on the role of technical engineering director, while continuing as head of Aerodynamics. The team acknowledges Sanchez’s contributions to their development and wishes him good luck in his future endeavors.
