Red Bull and Ferrari steal the show as McLaren goes missing in action amidst F1 rule change chaos

As the F1 world braces for the enforcement of the updated flexi-wing regulation, McLaren seems to have gone under the radar by failing to declare any visible front wing changes to the FIA. This move has raised eyebrows, especially with fierce competitors Red Bull and Ferrari wasting no time in responding with their respective upgrades.

While Mercedes, led by Toto Wolff, may have made the necessary adjustments earlier at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Red Bull and Ferrari have taken center stage with their submissions of front wing upgrades in the official disclosure document.

Red Bull, based in Milton Keynes, has taken a bold step by revising the first and second elements of its front wing, impacting the flaps and tips. The team stated that the changes were made to comply with the revised 2025 F1 Technical Regulations, focusing on gaining stiffness at minimal weight cost while pursuing the desired load characteristics.

On the other hand, Ferrari has made amendments to its endplates and outboard tip rolls, along with updating the loading distribution of the wing elements. The Italian team seems determined to make its mark with these strategic modifications.

Among other teams, Aston Martin, Haas, Racing Bulls, and Williams have all made the necessary changes to adhere to the new technical directive (TD018H), showing their commitment to staying competitive in the ever-evolving world of F1.

Interestingly, while McLaren has made adjustments to its front wing, the team has not explicitly mentioned the new rules in its justification for the update. The subtle change focuses on the transition between the mainplane and endplate, leaving fans and experts intrigued by their approach.

With the F1 landscape experiencing a wave of transformations, teams are pulling out all the stops to gain an edge over their rivals. As the dust settles on the new rule changes, all eyes will be on the track to see how these adjustments play out in the high-stakes world of Formula 1.
