The McLaren F1 team has found themselves in hot water as the FIA confirms an official curfew breach at the Bahrain Grand Prix. According to FIA regulations, McLaren team members associated with the car’s operation were on the Bahrain International Circuit premises during the curfew period, marking the first of three exceptions allowed per team for the season.
The breach, going against Article 23.1 of the FIA’s sporting regulations, limits the number of team personnel working on the car to 58 during specific event periods. Additionally, Article 23.5a) prohibits personnel involved in the car’s operation from being within the circuit confines during restricted hours.
During the second restricted period at Bahrain, McLaren personnel were reportedly conducting operational activities related to the car, which is strictly prohibited. While certain roles like catering or media are exempt from these restrictions, any work on the car is a clear violation.
