The Formula 1 world is buzzing with excitement as the doors of McLaren seem to be wide open for Carlos Sainz to make a sensational return to the team. The CEO of McLaren, Zak Brown, has expressed keen interest in welcoming Sainz back if the opportunity arises, even though current drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are under contract for several years.

Sainz, who previously raced for McLaren from 2019 to 2020 and secured his first F1 podium with the British team, recently inked a long-term deal with Williams after losing his spot at Ferrari to Lewis Hamilton. Brown showered praise on Sainz for his professionalism and friendship during his time at McLaren and acknowledged the tough decision Ferrari had to make between Hamilton and Sainz.

Despite moving to a less competitive team, Sainz is eager to contribute to the rebuilding of Williams and dreams of seeing the historic team back on the podium. Brown stated, “If we had a vacant seat, of course, we would consider Carlos. But at the moment, we have Lando and Oscar under contract for several years. If, for some reason, the situation changes and Carlos becomes available… I have his phone number in my contacts. Carlos has been fantastic with us, a good friend, a great driver. Fortunately, I have not been in a situation where I had to make that decision.”

The potential reunion between Sainz and McLaren has sent shockwaves through the F1 community, with fans eagerly anticipating the prospect of seeing the Spanish driver back in the iconic papaya orange livery. As the motorsport world eagerly awaits the unfolding saga, one thing is for sure – Carlos Sainz’s future in Formula 1 continues to be a hot topic of discussion among fans and experts alike.
