Zak Brown, the Chief Executive Officer of McLaren, has signed a contract extension that will keep him in his role until 2030. Brown, who became CEO of the McLaren Technology Group in 2016, was responsible for ending the team’s unsuccessful partnership with Honda in Formula 1. Later, he negotiated a deal with Mercedes, which led to McLaren’s victory at the Italian Grand Prix in 2021. Under Brown’s leadership, McLaren underwent a remarkable turnaround, moving from the back of the grid to achieve nine podiums and fourth place in the standings. In addition to Formula 1, McLaren has expanded its presence in other racing series such as IndyCar, Extreme E, and Formula E, where they recently secured their first win. Brown expressed his excitement to continue leading McLaren Racing and working with the talented individuals across all the team’s racing series. Paul Walsh, Executive Chairman of the McLaren Group, praised Brown’s leadership qualities and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the team to even more success in the future.
