McLaren and United Autosports Unveil Stunning Papaya GT3 Liveries for 2025 WEC Title Hunt

McLaren is back in the endurance racing spotlight, and they’re making sure everyone knows it. Thirty years after their legendary victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Woking-based manufacturer has revealed two striking papaya-liveried McLaren 720S LMGT3 EVOs for the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season.

Represented by United Autosports, McLaren’s factory-backed effort in the LMGT3 category has one clear goal: win races and fight for the title.

A Bold New Look for McLaren’s 2025 WEC Campaign

The #59 and #95 McLaren 720S LMGT3 EVOs will now feature a more aggressive and unmistakable papaya color scheme, aligning them visually with McLaren’s presence in Formula 1, Formula E, and IndyCar.

Richard Dean, CEO of United Autosports, emphasized the significance of the 2025 season:

“It is a very special year to be racing with McLaren in the WEC, and our 2025 livery celebrates that. This season is about building on strong foundations, winning races, and going for the championship title, and we are doing that in a car that is proudly, unmistakably McLaren.”

A Proven Contender: McLaren 720S LMGT3 EVO

With McLaren now firmly established in endurance racing, CEO Michael Leiters is confident that the United Autosports partnership will deliver results in 2025.

“Now that we have proven the McLaren GT3 EVO’s speed and endurance at the highest level of competition, we enter the new season confident of competing for the WEC title with our Racing Partner United Autosports.”

He also stressed that McLaren’s racing DNA is embedded in every car they produce, making WEC a natural battleground for their GT program.

United Autosports’ Driver Lineup Set for Qatar Prologue

United Autosports has already locked in their full driver lineup ahead of the official pre-season Qatar Prologue test (Feb 21-22).

  • #59 McLaren 720S LMGT3 EVO: James Cottingham (returning for his second season) alongside Gregoire Saucy and Sebastien Baud.
  • #95 McLaren 720S LMGT3 EVO: Marino Sato (returning United Autosports driver) joins Darren Leung and Sean Gelael.

Season Opener: Qatar 1812km at Losail International Circuit

After the pre-season test in Qatar, the 2025 WEC season kicks off with the Qatar 1812km (10-hour race) on February 28.

With McLaren’s heritage, United Autosports’ expertise, and a hungry driver lineup, the 2025 WEC season could be a defining moment for McLaren’s return to endurance racing glory.

Now, all eyes are on Losail International Circuit to see if this papaya army is ready to take on the world’s best.
