The link between McLaren and Mercedes in Formula 1 will remain until 2030. The German manufacturer will continue to supply power units to the Woking team in the first five seasons of the new regulations (2026 to 2030).

After a continuous partnership between 1995 and 2014, McLaren returned to Mercedes in 2021 following less successful collaborations with Honda and Renault. Since then, it has gone through a period of clear competitive growth, as demonstrated particularly in this final phase of the 2023 season where it has established itself as a regular podium contender.

Markus Schaefer, Chief Technology Officer at Mercedes, said: ‘The long-term nature of this agreement reflects our shared confidence and commitment in our future power unit strategy. Together, we look forward to building momentum for 2026 and the start of another new era of innovative electrified power unit design in Formula 1’.

From McLaren’s side, CEO Zak Brown commented: ‘Mercedes-Benz has been a brilliant and reliable partner to the McLaren Formula 1 team. The renewal signifies the confidence that our shareholders and the wider team have in their power units and the direction we are taking with them for a new era of regulations ahead. We have been successful together, both in the past three seasons and when they powered the team previously, so we look forward to future success as we continue our journey to consistently fight at the front of the grid’.
