Tecnologia e-Skyactiv R-EV da Mazda conquista galardão especial no Japão

The e-Skyactiv R-EV technology that equips the Mazda MX-30 has once again been recognized in Japan, this time as part of the ‘Car of the Year 2024-2025’ initiative, receiving the special award that is annually granted by its Executive Committee.

This marks the second time that Mazda has secured the “Japan Car of the Year Executive Committee Special Award,” 13 years after a similar honor was awarded to the 1.3 Skyactiv engine of the Mazda Demio 1 in the 2011-2012 edition.

“The rotary engine is a unique technology from Mazda, having been the first in the world to be successfully used in practice. This unique Japanese technological asset seemed to have been put on hold due to environmental concerns, but has now been recognized for being reactivated in the form of a new power unit used as a generator, called e-Skyactiv R-EV, paving the way for its evolution in the future”, states a note from the organization.

This is also the second important award given in Japan, within a month, to the e-Skyactiv R-EV technology, after it was honored last November with the trophy “Japan Automotive Hall of Fame Car Technology of the Year.”

“We are very pleased that the e-Skyactiv R-EV has received this ‘Special Award’ from the Executive Committee. We would like to express our gratitude to all Mazda fans, business partners, media, and everyone else for their support. We share the joy of receiving this award with our employees who work tirelessly every day on its development, and we will continue to work hard to develop rotary engines that are in line with the times.”, said Ichiro Hirose, Executive Director and CTO of Mazda Motor Corporation,
