Max Verstappen: The Unseen Force Behind Red Bull's Success

In the high-octane world of Formula 1, Max Verstappen isn't just a driver – he's the cornerstone of the Red Bull Racing team, according to team principal Laurent Mekies. As Red Bull gears up for its most ambitious season yet, debuting its groundbreaking in-house power units under the new 2026 regulations, Mekies reveals that Verstappen's influence stretches far beyond the racetrack.

“Max is the embodiment of motorsport,” Mekies declared, his admiration evident. “He leaves no stone unturned. While his driving prowess is undeniable, it’s his extraordinary technical acumen and deep understanding of the sport that truly set him apart. This comes from a lifetime of immersion in racing.”

Verstappen's role within Red Bull is monumental, Mekies insists. “His vision is limitless; he’s not just a driver, he’s a driving force for everyone involved in our project. He’s integral to our decision-making processes, whether we’re taking risks or dealing with setbacks. In a time of such radical regulatory changes, his input is invaluable.”

This season, Verstappen will welcome a new teammate, the promising 21-year-old Isack Hadjar, who has made waves after an impressive rookie year at sister team Racing Bulls. Mekies is optimistic about Hadjar's potential and commitment. “He’s done everything right so far, demonstrating the right attitude and dedication. He moved to England, immersing himself at our Milton Keynes headquarters almost daily, and he’s not leaving anything to chance.”

Despite the optimism, Mekies remains grounded about the challenges ahead. While Red Bull’s new power units have exceeded expectations in terms of performance and reliability, Mekies warns that the battle against seasoned giants like Mercedes and Ferrari is far from over. “We're aware that even with a stellar start, we’re up against teams with immense experience,” he cautioned. “We've conquered one mountain, but there’s another looming before us. We’re ready to fight, even if we currently lag behind the top three teams.”

As the new era in Formula 1 unfolds, all eyes will be on Verstappen and Red Bull. Can they leverage their internal strengths and Mekies' vision to ascend to the top? The countdown to the 2026 season has begun, and it's shaping up to be a thrilling ride!
