Max Verstappen’s Race Engineer Stays Put: A Huge Win for Red Bull in 2026!

In a thrilling turn of events that has sent shockwaves through the Formula 1 community, Gianpiero Lambiase will continue as Max Verstappen’s race engineer at Red Bull Racing for the 2026 season! This bombshell news comes just after intense speculation hinted at a potential switch to Aston Martin, where Lambiase was rumored to be in talks for a high-profile role, possibly as team principal or chief executive.

The respected engineer, who has been the mastermind behind Verstappen’s meteoric rise since the Dutch driver joined Red Bull in May 2016, played a pivotal role in securing four consecutive world championships from 2021 to 2024. However, the 2025 season saw a nail-biting finish, with Verstappen falling agonizingly short of a fifth title—just two points behind McLaren’s Lando Norris. The emotional toll of this near-miss was palpable, as Lambiase was seen visibly moved on the pit wall during the season finale in Abu Dhabi, leading to speculation that this season might mark the end of their successful partnership.

But fear not, Red Bull fans! Reports have now confirmed that Lambiase will remain in his crucial position as head of racing, solidifying the team’s stability as Formula 1 embarks on a transformative new era filled with sweeping changes to chassis and engine regulations. This decision is particularly significant as Red Bull gears up to manufacture their own engines for the very first time in 2026, thanks to the newly established Powertrains division in collaboration with American giant Honda.

Moreover, the excitement doesn’t stop there! Red Bull and their sister team, Racing Bulls, are set to unveil their striking new liveries for the upcoming season at a Ford season-launch event in Detroit next week. This is a momentous occasion, as fans and teams alike eagerly anticipate what the future holds in this new chapter of Formula 1.

With Lambiase remaining at the helm of Verstappen’s race strategy, the duo is poised to tackle the challenges ahead with renewed vigor and determination. This steadfast partnership could very well be the key to reclaiming dominance in a championship landscape that is rapidly evolving.

For those in the know and eager to get the inside scoop from the F1 paddock, there’s never been a better time to join exclusive channels for the latest updates and insights directly from seasoned journalists who live and breathe the sport.

Stay tuned, as the drama of F1 continues to unfold!
