Red Bull F1 Facing Uphill Battle in Monaco Grand Prix, Max Verstappen Admits Challenges

Red Bull’s Formula 1 team is bracing for a tough challenge at the Monaco Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen conceding that they will be in “damage limitation mode” due to the team’s struggles in slow-speed corners.

Despite a promising performance at Imola last weekend, where Verstappen outpaced McLaren, the Dutch driver acknowledges that Monaco’s unique track layout poses a significant challenge for Red Bull.

Verstappen highlighted that the RB21 is still not optimized for tracks like Monaco, where the car tends to struggle with bumps and kerbs, crucial elements for a competitive lap time.

“We know that this track isn’t for our car, and that is still the same,” Verstappen remarked, emphasizing the team’s limitations at circuits that require strong performance in slow-speed corners.

Looking ahead to the Monaco Grand Prix, Verstappen expressed hopes that Red Bull can adjust the setup of the RB21 to alleviate some of the inherent issues that have plagued the team on similar tracks in the past.

While acknowledging the ongoing efforts to improve the car’s performance, Verstappen admitted that the challenges at Monaco would be significant. “It won’t be easy, that’s for sure,” he said.

With Red Bull aiming to minimize the impact of their weaknesses in slow-speed corners, the team faces a tough task in maximizing their performance in Monaco.

As the Formula 1 season unfolds, all eyes will be on Red Bull as they navigate the unique challenges of the Monaco Grand Prix and work towards overcoming their limitations on demanding tracks.
