Max Verstappen Stays Close to Christian Horner After Shocking Red Bull Sacking!

In a stunning turn of events, Max Verstappen continues to maintain a close bond with Christian Horner, despite the latter’s unexpected dismissal as team principal of Red Bull Racing. The four-time world champion speaks highly of Horner, who was a pivotal figure in Red Bull’s meteoric rise to dominance in Formula 1 since 2005. Their relationship, forged in the heat of competition, remains strong even after Horner’s exit in July, leaving fans and insiders buzzing with intrigue.

Horner’s tenure at Red Bull was nothing short of legendary, overseeing a remarkable haul of 14 world titles—eight drivers’ and six constructors’—with six of those championships clinched by Verstappen himself. However, the winds shifted dramatically over the past year. The atmosphere within the team became increasingly toxic, marred by allegations against Horner regarding inappropriate behavior toward a female employee, the struggle for power following the death of founder Dietrich Mateschitz, and a dismal performance that saw the team drop to fourth in the F1 standings. The brewing storm ultimately led Red Bull’s management to appoint Laurent Mekies from the sister team, a decision that has already sparked a remarkable turnaround.

Verstappen, speaking candidly about the turmoil, reflected, “Things weren’t going very well for the whole team. There was a bit of unrest… the shareholders also wanted change because they weren’t happy with how things were going either.” His loyalty to Horner is palpable, as he recalls their shared triumphs, particularly the exhilarating moments of 2021, stating, “Christian really went through fire for me. Those kinds of things are always difficult when you talk to each other on the phone.”

When pressed about his ongoing communication with Horner, Verstappen revealed, “Every week, every race. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, usually via text message. Even on holiday.” The Dutch champion continues to offer encouragement, stating, “It’s more about ‘I wish you good luck’ and ‘I believe in you’—the biggest fan.” This unwavering support highlights the depth of their relationship, transcending the professional sphere into a personal connection.

Despite his nostalgia for the past, Verstappen acknowledges the need for change and the positive shift that has followed Horner’s departure. “The team is doing well,” he confirmed, emphasizing the renewed sense of confidence and camaraderie among the crew. “You see people smiling, it’s a nice environment, everyone gets along well, and we missed that at one point.” The return to the distinctive “Red Bull style” is evident, and Verstappen enthusiastically noted, “Yes, and that has definitely returned.”

As Red Bull Racing turns the page on a tumultuous chapter, the bond between Verstappen and Horner serves as a poignant reminder of their shared journey. The future looks bright for Verstappen and the team, with a revitalized spirit driving them forward in pursuit of championship glory. As the motorsport world watches closely, one thing is certain: the saga of Red Bull Racing is far from over!
