Red Bull Racing Advisor Marko Shuts Down Mercedes Rumors Surrounding Max Verstappen

Speculations have been rife about Max Verstappen potentially making a move to Mercedes, with rumors suggesting he is on the brink of signing with the Silver Arrows. However, Helmut Marko, the advisor to Red Bull Racing, has vehemently denied these claims, stating that Verstappen has not inked any deal with Mercedes and is not even in a position to do so.

Verstappen recently extended his contract with Red Bull until the end of 2028, solidifying a long-term commitment with the team following his triumph in the F1 World Championship. Despite ongoing talks between Mercedes and the Dutch driver, Marko emphasized that there have been no developments in Verstappen’s contractual status.

The possibility of Verstappen leaving Red Bull for Mercedes has been a hot topic in the Formula 1 community, especially as the reigning World Champion’s performance clause could allow him to depart if he falls below fourth place in the Drivers’ Championship after the Hungarian Grand Prix. With Verstappen currently holding the third spot in the standings, the clause remains inactive.

During a recent media interaction, Verstappen remained tight-lipped about the swirling rumors, simply stating that there have been no changes from his end. Refraining from delving into discussions about his contract, he emphasized the need to focus on his driving amidst the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming season.

As the Formula 1 landscape continues to evolve, the saga surrounding Max Verstappen’s future adds an intriguing layer to the sport. While fans and pundits speculate about a potential switch to Mercedes, Marko’s firm stance serves as a stark reminder that nothing is set in stone until official announcements are made.
