Max Verstappen Speaks Out on Lewis Hamilton’s Rocky Start at Ferrari: “It Was Never Going to Be Easy!”

In a shocking revelation that has sent ripples through the Formula 1 community, Max Verstappen has candidly shared his thoughts on Lewis Hamilton’s tumultuous debut season with Ferrari. The seven-time World Champion has faced a barrage of challenges in his first year with the iconic Scuderia, and Verstappen, his fierce rival from previous seasons, has laid bare the harsh realities of Hamilton’s new chapter.

Hamilton’s transition to the SF-25 has proven to be anything but smooth. With only a single highlight—a Sprint Race victory in Shanghai—his season has been marred by disappointment, leaving fans and critics alike questioning his ability to adapt to a team that is struggling to find its footing. Unlike his teammate Charles Leclerc, who has managed to clinch four top-three finishes and a pole position, Hamilton has found himself grappling with the complexities of the car, culminating in a moment of despair where he labeled himself “useless” at Hungary, even suggesting that the team may need to “change driver.”

As Verstappen prepares for his third victory of the season, he offered his insights on Hamilton’s plight, acknowledging that the intricacies of the Ferrari car may not truly reflect the legendary driver’s current skill level. “I cannot look into how he was operating at Mercedes, how he feels personally, what is going on also in the team right now,” Verstappen stated, shedding light on the enigmatic nature of team dynamics. He highlighted the formidable challenge Hamilton faces, stepping into a team already led by a strong driver in Leclerc, who is well-integrated and familiar with the team’s operations. “It’s never going to be easy to immediately go in there and start beating your teammate,” he added.

However, the buzz surrounding Hamilton didn’t fade at the Monza Grand Prix, where he emerged with a glimmer of hope, finishing sixth after starting from tenth due to a grid penalty. The atmosphere was electric as he received an outpouring of support from the adoring tifosi in Milan, proving that the passion for Ferrari runs deep.

Verstappen, while acknowledging the magnetic allure of driving for Ferrari, revealed his reservations about succumbing to the emotional pull of the brand. “Ferrari is a massive brand,” he noted, reflecting on how many drivers fantasize about donning the red suit. But he cautioned against letting passion overshadow practicality, stating, “If I would ever want to go there, I don’t go there just to drive for Ferrari; I go there because I see the opportunity to win.”

As the F1 season unfolds, the question remains: Can Lewis Hamilton turn the tide and reclaim his position among the elite, or will the struggles at Ferrari prove too daunting? Verstappen’s insight sheds light on the multifaceted challenges facing Hamilton, as both drivers navigate the high-stakes world of Formula 1. The drama continues, and fans will be watching closely as the saga unfolds.
