Max Verstappen speaks out after devastating disqualification: a heart-wrenching Suzuka moment

Max Verstappen's Triumph Turned to Tragedy: The Shocking Disqualification at Nurburgring!

In a stunning twist during the 2026 F1 championship, four-time world champion Max Verstappen found himself at the epicenter of a racing scandal that has left fans in disbelief. Just days before the prestigious Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka, the Dutch driver faced the gut-wrenching news that he had been disqualified following a controversial ruling after his impressive victory at the Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) race.

Verstappen, who has made headlines for both his exceptional talent and his fiery demeanor, recently made waves by ejecting a journalist from a Red Bull media briefing. However, it was the verdict of disqualification that overshadowed all other headlines, sending shockwaves through the motorsport community.

The Nurburgring, known for its treacherous twists and turns, had seen Verstappen dominate the track, clinching pole position and claiming victory in a race alongside his talented teammates, Dani Juncadella and Jules Gounon. The trio showcased their prowess in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 as they sped to glory. But the jubilation was short-lived. Just hours later, the Winward Mercedes-AMG team was found guilty of breaching crucial tire regulations – utilizing seven sets of tires instead of the permitted six. As a result, Verstappen and his No.3 car were disqualified, shattering his perfect race record at the infamous Nordschleife.

In a candid moment at Suzuka, the 28-year-old driver addressed his disqualification, expressing disappointment but also a sense of perspective. “For me, Nordschleife was fantastic. Every time I jumped out of the car, I was just smiling,” Verstappen said, revealing his joy despite the outcome. He acknowledged the challenges he faced as he prepared for the Nurburgring 24 Hours race later this year, admitting that working with teammates in driver swaps felt like a new experience. “I really felt like a rookie in that sense,” he confessed.

Verstappen's resilience shone through as he emphasized the importance of learning from this setback. “Of course, a shame that we got disqualified. But it was just in the pits of practice, basically, that we were trying in qualifying by mistake,” he explained, highlighting the team's unintentional error. “I would rather have it happen now than in the 24,” he added, showing his commitment to ensuring that future races are flawless.

Looking ahead, Verstappen is set to reunite with Juncadella and Gounon for the highly anticipated Nurburgring 24 Hours, where they will also bring in Lucas Auer as their fourth driver. Fans are eager to see how the Verstappen Racing team will bounce back from this disqualification and prove their mettle on the track.

As the F1 world gears up for the Japanese Grand Prix on March 29, the excitement is palpable. But the shadow of Verstappen’s disqualification lingers, a stark reminder of how quickly fortunes can change in the high-stakes arena of motorsport. With the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian GPs due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, all eyes are on Suzuka as Verstappen aims to reclaim his glory.

Stay tuned as we follow the dramatic twists and turns of the 2026 F1 season, where victory and heartbreak often walk hand in hand on the thrilling tracks of the world!
