Max Verstappen expressed his satisfaction with his performance at the 2024 Belgian GP, where he managed to surpass Lando Norris and secure a fourth-place finish. Despite starting from 11th position, Verstappen showcased his skills and outperformed his Formula 1 title rival once again. McLaren had an opportunity to close the gap in the driver and constructors’ championship, but Norris missed his chance when he made a mistake at the first corner. As a result, Verstappen capitalized on Red Bull’s strategic advantage and utilized his consistent driving to secure a higher position than Norris at the end of the race.

Verstappen acknowledged the positive outcome of the day, especially considering his 11th place start. He expressed his satisfaction with finishing ahead of Norris, who is his main competitor for the championship. Verstappen praised the team’s strategy and his clean start, acknowledging the difficulty of overtaking in the DRS train. Despite the challenges, Verstappen believed that they maximized their performance and achieved a good result. He acknowledged the realistic limitations of starting from 11th place and expressed overall contentment with their performance.

With this result, Verstappen extended his lead in the F1 championship to 78 points, with 10 races and three Sprint Races remaining. The next race will be the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, a track that Verstappen particularly enjoys. He looks forward to competing in front of the Orange Army and aims to continue his successful run.

Despite his recent success, Verstappen emphasized the importance of Red Bull making improvements to their car during the summer break. He wants the team to address any issues before heading to his home race. Verstappen has experienced a challenging period, with four consecutive races without a win, resulting in 58 points. Nevertheless, he has managed to maintain his championship lead over Norris.

Verstappen’s last victory was at the 2024 Spanish GP on June 23, making it 63 days since his last win. He emphasized the team’s commitment to finding solutions and striving for improvement throughout the rest of the season. While they had a strong start to the season, the past few races have presented more difficulties. Verstappen remains determined to be faster and better as they progress in the championship.
