Max Verstappen slams Red Bull’s shocking driver sacking: two races is far too soon!

Max Verstappen, the fiery four-time Formula 1 champion, has launched a scathing critique of Red Bull Racing’s shocking decision to fire his teammate, Liam Lawson, after a mere two races. In a sport where every second counts, the abrupt dismissal of Lawson has ignited a storm of controversy and left fans questioning the team’s judgment.

Verstappen, known for his fierce competitiveness and an uncanny ability to dominate on the track, didn’t hold back when discussing this controversial move. “Two races for a team-mate, I didn’t agree with that at that moment,” he stated emphatically. His words resonate with the frustration that many fans share about the cutthroat nature of F1, where careers can be shattered in the blink of an eye. Verstappen continued, “Because ultimately you ruin someone’s chance at a top team,” highlighting the harsh realities of life within the high-stakes world of Formula 1 racing.

This shake-up comes in the wake of a turbulent season for Red Bull, where Lawson, initially seen as a promising addition, struggled to find his footing. The New Zealand racer, who had filled in after Sergio Perez faced difficulties as the team’s number two driver, was unfortunately unable to score any points in his brief stint. After just two races, he was unceremoniously replaced by Yuki Tsunoda for the Japanese Grand Prix, a decision that has raised eyebrows and sparked debates among fans and pundits alike.

But could this early exit have been a blessing in disguise for Lawson? As it turns out, his departure from Red Bull may have revitalized his career. Now racing for the Racing Bulls, Lawson showcased his talent and resilience, clinching an impressive fifth place in Baku and outpacing Tsunoda in the driver standings. This dramatic turnaround underscores the unpredictable nature of racing and the critical importance of a supportive team environment.

Looking ahead, Red Bull has announced that Lawson’s former teammate, Tsunoda, will be replaced by Hadjar for the 2026 season, while Lawson continues to build his career alongside Arvid Lindblad at Racing Bulls. Tsunoda, meanwhile, finds himself relegated to a test and reserve driver role, a stark reminder of how quickly fortunes can change in Formula 1.

With Verstappen’s voice now added to the chorus questioning the team’s hasty decisions, one thing is clear: the world of Formula 1 is as exhilarating as it is ruthless. Fans are left to wonder if Red Bull can recover from this misstep and whether Lawson will continue to rise in the ranks, proving that sometimes, a setback can lead to a spectacular comeback.
