Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion in Formula 1, will be missing the media day for the Miami Grand Prix as he anticipates the birth of his first child. The unexpected news was announced by his team, Red Bull, just hours before the scheduled appearances, stating that Verstappen will instead be present at the Miami International Autodrome on Friday for the Sprint weekend.

Verstappen, who currently resides in Monaco with his partner Kelly Piquet, is keeping details about the birth location private. Despite his absence from media duties, he is set to participate in the Sprint Qualifying on Friday evening, a crucial part of the race weekend that will be broadcast live on Sky Sports F1.

The Dutch driver is aiming for his fifth consecutive drivers’ title and is currently placed third in the 2025 Formula 1 season standings after five races. While it might have been possible for him to miss Friday’s practice sessions on a regular race weekend, the Sprint format of the Miami Grand Prix demands his presence from the start.

Fans can catch all the action of the Miami GP on Sky Sports F1, with a packed schedule including various practice sessions, qualifying, and races throughout the weekend. The anticipation is high as Verstappen balances the excitement of impending fatherhood with his pursuit of success on the track.
