Max Verstappen Shatters Unofficial Record at Nurburgring During Emilia Romagna F1 GP Media Day

In a jaw-dropping display of skill and speed, Max Verstappen has set an unofficial record at the iconic Nurburgring Nordschleife while behind the wheel of a Ferrari 296 GT3 during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix media day.

Verstappen’s performance on the legendary German track has caused a stir, not only due to the presence of the Dutch driver but also because of the remarkable lap times he achieved. On his second lap, he managed to break the GT3 car record with an astonishing time of 7:47, almost three seconds faster than the official GT3 record.

The Red Bull champion humbly downplayed his achievement, stating, “I wasn’t there to show that I could break a lap record or any other record. I was just having fun and getting to know the track, along with the team and Emil Frey. They had never been there, so for them, the dream is to do 24 hours there. We were also lucky with the conditions; it was very good and sunny, which is great if we can have that.”

Verstappen expressed his desire to participate in the race in the future and highlighted that these tests are part of his preparation for potential future opportunities. He said, “Yes, I would like to do it in the future. That’s why I’m doing all these things, to prepare myself a bit, gain some experience. So I won’t have to do it in the future.”

Regarding using a fake name during the event, Verstappen explained, “They asked me for a fake name, so I said, ‘Let’s make it as German as possible.’ Because then you’re not on the entry list. Otherwise, people show up at 8 in the morning knowing that my name is on the list. I knew that when I was there, people would figure it out, which is normal, but at least I wasn’t on the entry list. So, at least at 8, 9 in the morning, everything was very calm.”

Max Verstappen’s incredible feat at Nurburgring has sparked excitement and anticipation for his future endeavors, showcasing his exceptional talent and determination on and off the track.
