Max Verstappen reveals shocking Yuki Tsunoda setup secret before Red Bull departure

Max Verstappen Drops Bombshell on Yuki Tsunoda’s Struggles at Red Bull!

In a shocking revelation that underscores the intense competition in Formula 1, Max Verstappen has shed light on the subtle yet significant differences that led to Yuki Tsunoda’s downfall at Red Bull Racing. After a turbulent tenure of 22 races as teammates, Tsunoda has been unceremoniously axed from his seat, while Verstappen continues to soar.

The numbers tell a stark story: Tsunoda managed to score a mere 30 points compared to Verstappen’s staggering 385. While Verstappen clinched an impressive eight victories during the season, Tsunoda’s best result was a lackluster sixth place in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. This disparity is not just a reflection of raw talent but also highlights the crucial nuances in their car setups that could be the difference between mediocrity and greatness.

Verstappen, who has long been recognized for his exceptional driving skills and razor-sharp setup preferences, revealed that Tsunoda struggled with a key technical aspect of their shared vehicle. “In the end, Yuki came in and still indicated that it was difficult with our car,” Verstappen commented candidly, pointing out that while they aimed to align their setups, Tsunoda consistently preferred a configuration that leaned towards more understeer.

The Dutch driver elaborated, “Every driver has a bit of his own style anyway,” acknowledging that while they both sought similar performance goals, Tsunoda’s approach didn’t quite mesh with Verstappen’s preference for a precise, aggressive cornering technique. This fundamental difference in driving styles created a chasm in performance that was too vast to bridge during their time together.

Verstappen further explained the meticulous nature of F1 setups, emphasizing how small adjustments can lead to monumental improvements. “In Abu Dhabi, I wasn’t completely satisfied during the free practice sessions either, and I think with very small changes, we found two tenths, and two tenths is huge, on this grid,” he stated, highlighting the cutthroat environment where every fraction of a second counts.

As Tsunoda exits the Red Bull fold, the conversation around his struggles raises questions about the inherent challenges faced by drivers adapting to Verstappen’s elite level of performance. Verstappen’s previous teammates—Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, Sergio Perez, and Liam Lawson—have all echoed similar sentiments about the difficulties in adapting to Verstappen’s meticulous setup preferences.

The F1 world is abuzz with speculation as to who will fill the void left by Tsunoda and whether they will be able to rise to the monumental challenge of racing alongside a driver of Verstappen’s caliber. One thing is for sure: in the high-octane world of Formula 1, the details make all the difference, and Tsunoda’s story serves as a stark reminder of just how unforgiving the sport can be. Buckle up, because the 2026 F1 season is gearing up to be one for the history books!
