Max Verstappen has officially entered the pantheon of Formula 1 legends, claiming his fourth consecutive Drivers’ Championship title in the 2024 season. With his triumph at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Verstappen now stands shoulder-to-shoulder with icons like Sebastian Vettel, Alain Prost, and Michael Schumacher, etching his name among the sport’s elite.

The Path to Glory: A Season of Highs and Lows

After a historic and dominant 2023 season, Verstappen faced a tumultuous 2024 campaign. From battling car inconsistencies to intense rivalries, the Dutchman showcased unwavering determination. His astonishing victory at the Brazilian GP, storming to the win from 17th on the grid, was emblematic of his resilience and skill.

In Las Vegas, Verstappen sealed his championship in style, finishing ahead of title rival Lando Norris. The victory not only underscored his brilliance but also cemented his place in F1 history as one of only five drivers to win four championships consecutively.

Joining the F1 Greats: Verstappen’s Elite Company

Verstappen’s four consecutive titles place him among the most decorated drivers in the sport:

  • Juan Manuel Fangio: The Argentine pioneer dominated the early era of Formula 1 with five titles, including a streak of four from 1954 to 1957.
  • Michael Schumacher: The Ferrari icon set an unprecedented standard with five consecutive championships (2000–2004), culminating in a record seven titles.
  • Sebastian Vettel: Verstappen’s Red Bull predecessor claimed four consecutive titles (2010–2013) during the team’s golden era.
  • Lewis Hamilton: The seven-time champion achieved four straight wins (2017–2020), adding to his legacy of dominance.

With Verstappen now joining this illustrious group, his legacy as one of the sport’s finest is undeniable.

A Season of Milestones

The 2024 campaign wasn’t just about the title—it was about making history. Verstappen became the only driver to win from 10 different starting positions on the grid, showcasing his versatility and adaptability. Additionally, the Dutchman set a new record for the most expensive super license fee, shelling out €1.2 million ($1.25 million) following his dominant 2023 season.

Red Bull’s Rollercoaster Year

While Verstappen’s success has been monumental, Red Bull’s 2024 campaign has been anything but smooth. With Sergio Pérez underperforming, the team has struggled to maintain its dominance in the Constructors’ Championship. Although mathematically still in the fight, Red Bull faces an uphill battle to reclaim the top spot.

What’s Next for Verstappen and F1?

With two races remaining in the season, Verstappen and Red Bull have the chance to end the year on a high. As the sport’s brightest star, Verstappen’s focus will shift to 2025 and continuing his dominance. But for now, the Dutchman celebrates a milestone that further solidifies his place among Formula 1’s immortals.

Max Verstappen’s fourth title is not just a testament to his talent but a reminder of his indomitable spirit. As Formula 1 heads into the future, one thing is clear: Verstappen’s legacy is just beginning to take shape. Viva Las Vegas, and viva Verstappen!
