Max Verstappen’s Fourth Title Almost Slipped Away: The Emotional Red Bull Summit That Saved His Season

Max Verstappen, the four-time reigning Formula 1 champion, has dominated the sport since his 2015 debut. With countless race victories and an ongoing streak of consecutive titles, the 27-year-old Dutchman has solidified his place among motorsport legends. However, Verstappen has made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t envision himself remaining in Formula 1 for the long haul, unlike some of his peers.

A New Chapter in Motorsports?

In a recent interview, Verstappen opened up about his future ambitions beyond the cockpit. While his performances in Formula 1 have been nothing short of spectacular, he has hinted at stepping away from racing at a relatively young age. The Red Bull star revealed that he has contemplated pursuing a management role in motorsports once he retires from active competition.

“I always said to myself, if I wouldn’t be a full-on racing driver myself, I would always try to stay in racing, but in a bit more of a management role,” Verstappen shared. “So I guess at one point, I’ll be taking on a bit of a role like that.”

Family and Fatherhood on the Horizon

The Dutch superstar’s decision to consider an early exit is not solely tied to professional ambitions. With the announcement of his partner Kelly Piquet’s pregnancy, Verstappen is preparing to embrace fatherhood. Balancing the rigorous demands of Formula 1 with a growing family could further influence his timeline for stepping away from the sport.

Verstappen has long emphasized his dedication to his family and friends, often spending time with them during breaks in the F1 calendar. For Verstappen, life beyond racing might include a more laid-back approach—though not without entrepreneurial ventures.

“If I can’t do anything with racing, I will probably just enjoy my life with family and friends and spend time with them,” Verstappen said. “Of course, you always have businesses next to it, investments running, but besides that, you should just enjoy your life.”

The Path to Retirement: Red Bull and Beyond

Despite his musings about life after Formula 1, Verstappen remains committed to his current journey with Red Bull Racing. With his contract running until at least 2028, Verstappen is likely to chase several more championship titles before hanging up his gloves. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner recently alluded to the conditions that could cause Verstappen to walk away from F1, hinting at the driver’s strong sense of independence and unique career trajectory.

A Legacy in the Making

As Verstappen continues to dominate the grid, his potential future as a manager in motorsports could open a new chapter for the Dutchman. His unparalleled experience, combined with his strategic mindset, could make him a valuable figure behind the scenes in racing.

For now, though, Verstappen is focused on making history. Whether it’s chasing additional world titles or guiding the next generation of drivers, the world is undoubtedly watching as Verstappen’s journey unfolds.
