Max Verstappen fiercely defends GianPiero Lambiase amid explosive Red Bull exit rumors

Max Verstappen Smashes Rumors: ‘GP is Here to Stay!’

In a dramatic twist that has sent shockwaves through the Formula 1 community, Max Verstappen has emphatically quashed rumors surrounding his race engineer GianPiero ‘GP’ Lambiase’s future with Red Bull Racing. The reigning champion made it crystal clear: there has never been any doubt about Lambiase’s commitment to the team as they gear up for a fierce 2026 season.

Speculation swirled late last year, igniting frenzy among fans and rival teams alike, as whispers emerged that Lambiase, who has been the mastermind behind Verstappen’s meteoric rise since 2016, was contemplating offers from Aston Martin and Williams. This 45-year-old engineering wizard, known for his pivotal role in Verstappen’s remarkable success, reportedly expressed a desire to step back from the grueling demands of a full 24-race season.

But fear not, Verstappen aficionados! The driver himself has now set the record straight. After a nail-biting finish to the 2025 season, where Verstappen lost the Drivers’ title to Lando Norris by a razor-thin margin of just two points, his final radio exchange with Lambiase raised eyebrows. “You can be proud of that mate, hold your head up high,” Lambiase reassured Verstappen after the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. To this, Verstappen replied: “We showed them one final time who’s boss.” And indeed, it seems the duo is far from finished.

Sources close to the situation confirm that Lambiase will remain in his pivotal role as Verstappen’s race engineer for the upcoming season, marking their 11th year together—a testament to their unbreakable bond. Verstappen unequivocally stated to Sky News, “He was always staying,” dousing any lingering doubts about Lambiase’s loyalty. When pressed further on the matter, he reiterated, “Not to me,” emphasizing the unwavering trust he places in his long-time engineer.

Described as Formula 1’s “old married couple” by former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, the partnership between Verstappen and Lambiase has blossomed through ten thrilling years, during which they have celebrated an astonishing 71 race wins and four World Championships together. Despite the occasional heated exchanges synonymous with high-stakes racing, Verstappen has always held Lambiase in high regard.

Reflecting on their journey, Verstappen expressed pride in their collaboration during an emotionally charged season, where he faced significant challenges. “It’s been tough. But I’m very happy to be able to work with someone that passionate… I see him as my friend,” he stated, underscoring the depth of their relationship.

As Verstappen sets his sights on reclaiming the championship title in 2026, fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the dynamic duo of Verstappen and Lambiase will continue to dominate the tracks together. This partnership is not just a story of a driver and his engineer; it’s a saga of resilience, friendship, and a relentless pursuit of greatness. With the F1 world watching closely, one thing is for sure: the Verstappen-Lambiase team is poised to make waves once again!
