Amid swirling speculation about a potential switch to Aston Martin, Formula 1’s reigning champion Max Verstappen has firmly shut down the rumors, reaffirming his commitment to Red Bull Racing. The Dutch superstar, who has dominated the sport with four consecutive Drivers’ Championships, remains contracted with the Milton Keynes-based team through 2028 and insists he’s content with the “second family” that has propelled him to greatness.
“Verstappen: ‘I Haven’t Thought About That at All'”
When asked by Viaplay about the possibility of joining Aston Martin—a team reportedly eyeing Verstappen for its ambitious 2026 project with Honda—Verstappen was quick to dismiss the chatter.
“No, I haven’t talked about that at all either, just nothing at all,” he said. “At the moment I haven’t thought about that at all.”
Verstappen’s loyalty to Red Bull stems from the immense success he’s achieved with the team, winning his fourth Drivers’ Championship at the Las Vegas Grand Prix in 2024. Despite behind-the-scenes unrest earlier this season and challenges with the RB20’s performance in its latter half, Verstappen remains unshaken in his commitment.
“I have achieved a lot of success with them, and it just feels like a second family,” he added.
“2026: A Pivotal Year for F1 and Red Bull”
While Verstappen is fully focused on the present, the 2026 season looms large with its sweeping regulation changes. Red Bull will debut a brand-new power unit project, raising questions about whether the team can maintain its dominance. If the new regulations compromise Red Bull’s competitiveness, rumors suggest Verstappen could be tempted by Aston Martin’s enticing partnership with Honda and technical legend Adrian Newey, a former Red Bull stalwart.
Still, Verstappen remains unperturbed for now:
“In 2026, of course, there will also be new rules. But at the moment I’m not that busy with that, to be honest.”
At just 27 years old, Verstappen acknowledges he has time to carefully shape the next phase of his career:
“I’m still very young, so a lot can still happen in the future as well. For me, it’s not just about F1 either. After that, I also want to do a lot of things.”
“Red Bull’s Mission to Retain Its Star”
Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner has made it clear that the team’s priority is to provide Verstappen with a car capable of keeping him at the top of the sport.
“It’s down to us to deliver, and I’m sure that we’ll provide him a car that he can fight again for the championship next year,” Horner said.
While Red Bull finished the season third in the Constructors’ standings behind McLaren and Ferrari, Horner remains optimistic:
“There’s a lot of lessons that we’ve taken out of this year. I don’t think it’s going to be easy, but it won’t be easy for any of the teams.”
“Will Verstappen Stay or Explore New Horizons?”
While Verstappen’s focus remains firmly on Red Bull, his acknowledgment that “a lot can still happen” in the future leaves the door ajar for potential moves. If Red Bull falters in maintaining its title-winning pedigree, Verstappen could be lured to a more competitive outfit to finish his F1 career on a high.
For now, Verstappen is content where he is, but the 2026 regulations could redefine the landscape—and perhaps, his loyalty.
