Max Verstappen Declares It ‘Impossible’ to Choose His Best F1 Race Amidst Controversial Debate

In the high-octane world of Formula 1, determining the “best” race is a contentious topic that even the most successful drivers grapple with. Max Verstappen, the Dutch dynamo currently dominating the grid, has come forward with a bold assertion that it is simply “impossible” to pinpoint which of his astounding 230 races stands out as the apex of his career.

Verstappen’s comments come on the heels of his spectacular victory at the 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix, a race that many pundits are already dubbing the crowning achievement of his eleven-season tenure in Formula 1. From the farthest reaches of the grid—starting in P17—he defied torrential rain and fierce competition to clinch a win that not only solidified his dominance but also placed him on the brink of securing his fourth drivers’ championship title.

This triumph is arguably among the most thrilling of his 68 career wins and is punctuated by the sheer talent and tenacity Verstappen displayed under extreme pressure. The Interlagos circuit has been a stage for his remarkable performances, including a jaw-dropping drive in 2016 when he mounted an incredible comeback from P16 to finish on the podium with just 16 laps left in the race.

As the anticipation builds for yet another showdown in Brazil, Verstappen faced probing questions from the media, including RacingNews365, about how he might outdo his own incredible performance from the previous year. His response was nothing short of insightful: “A wet race is always quite challenging, and then around here, it’s always quite tough. And for sure, it was one of my best races, because it was under a lot of pressure, having to perform, basically.”

He further elaborated on the complexity of comparing races, stating, “So, for sure, I’d rate it as a really good race and one of my best races. It is always impossible to say which one is the best, because it depends on a lot of factors.”

Verstappen’s reflection encapsulates the essence of competitive racing: the myriad variables—from weather conditions to track characteristics and personal performance—that shape each race’s narrative. With each victory, he adds another layer to his legacy, yet the quest to identify a single “best” race remains as elusive as ever.

As fans and analysts alike continue to debate the merits of Verstappen’s performances, one thing is clear: his career is a tapestry woven with thrilling moments, each vying for the title of “best.” The question remains, can anyone truly decide which of Verstappen’s races is the greatest, or will the debate rage on?
