Max Verstappen collided with Lando Norris after a controversial maneuver in the final stages of the Austrian Grand Prix. The incident occurred during lap 65 of the race in Spielberg, receiving significant criticism for the three-time world champion. Norris, a strong contender against Red Bull this season, had been showcasing his skills throughout the 11 races held so far. However, the miscalculations of both drivers ended up costing them the victory in Austria.

Verstappen attributed the incident to Red Bull’s below-expected performance, especially regarding pit stops and strategic decisions. Despite starting the Austrian Grand Prix with a solid lead after winning the qualifying race and securing pole position, Verstappen faced setbacks that allowed Norris to get closer. The Dutch driver stated that slow pit stops resulted in a six-second loss, giving Norris the opportunity to challenge him during the crucial stages of the race.

Looking ahead, Verstappen will be eager to recover and secure a victory in the upcoming British Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner commented on the ongoing rivalry between Verstappen and Norris. Horner acknowledged the intense nature of their duels, which led to the incident in the Austrian Grand Prix. He also noted Verstappen’s aggressive driving style and Norris’ determination to make up for missed opportunities. However, Horner emphasized that the incident could have been avoided with a bit more caution from both drivers.
