Max Verstappen considera futuro na Red Bull com saída de Adrian Newey.

This decision raises questions about the team’s future trajectory and its influence on star driver Max Verstappen, who is under contract until 2028.

Red Bull Racing is on the brink of a significant transformation, as designer Adrian Newey announced his departure, scheduled for early 2025.

Newey, a crucial figure within the team, has made substantial contributions to its success over more than ten years.

This change raises uncertainties about the team’s future direction and its impact on star driver Max Verstappen, who is under contract until 2028.

The announcement has sparked immediate speculation about possible changes within the team.

Max’s father, Jos Verstappen, expressed concerns to the media that Red Bull could be at risk of “falling apart” without Newey.

These comments have intensified discussions about the stability and future competitiveness of Red Bull.

However, Max Verstappen has maintained a diplomatic stance in light of the evolving situation.

Speaking ahead of the 2024 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, Verstappen revealed on formula1.com that he had not yet considered leaving the team.

He praised Newey’s influence but acknowledged the importance of respecting personal decisions.

Reflecting on Newey’s departure, Verstappen shared on The Fast and the Curious podcast his final words to Newey, emphasizing personal happiness over professional obligations.

“I also said to him, ‘Ultimately, you must do what you believe is best for yourself and your family, we won’t force you to stay if you don’t want to stay.

‘Live your life, if you feel you need to go, then go’.”

This philosophy extends beyond Newey, as Verstappen encourages anyone at Red Bull who is pondering about their future. He supports the pursuit of personal satisfaction, even if it means moving away from the team.

Despite Verstappen’s assurances, speculation about his future persists, fueled by reports of growing interest from Mercedes.

Toto Wolff, team principal of Mercedes, is reportedly preparing an unprecedented contract offer to attract Verstappen as Lewis Hamilton’s successor.

Within Red Bull, Pierre Wache, the current technical director, is expected to take on a more prominent role after Newey’s departure, which may alleviate concerns about the team’s technical leadership.

Verstappen’s confidence in Wache is a positive sign, but other uncertainties loom.

A clause in Verstappen’s contract allowing him to leave if Helmut Marko steps down stands out, suggesting possible additional upheavals.

As Red Bull prepares for the new regulations in 2026, rumors suggest potential setbacks in engine development, intensifying speculation about Verstappen’s long-term commitment to the team.
