In a thrilling display of speed and skill, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen claimed pole position at the 2025 Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix qualifying session held at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. The Flying Dutchman’s impressive lap time of 1:27.294s edged out McLaren’s Oscar Piastri by a mere one-hundredth of a second, setting the stage for an electrifying race day.

Not far behind, Mercedes’ George Russell secured the third spot, trailing Verstappen by 0.113s, followed by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc who clocked in a further two and a half tenths behind. The top five was rounded out by Andrea Kimi Antonelli in the second Mercedes and Carlos Sainz from Williams, who delivered a stellar performance to claim sixth place.

The seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, had to settle for seventh place in the second Ferrari, while Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly secured the eighth and ninth positions, respectively. Despite a crash preventing him from setting a time in Q3, McLaren’s Lando Norris completed the top-10 lineup.
