This year, Max Verstappen exerted overwhelming dominance in Formula 1, with 19 wins in 22 Grand Prix races. Thanks to two victories from Sergio Pérez, Red Bull only failed to win the Singapore GP – which was won by Carlos Sainz (Ferrari).
These are impressive, unprecedented, and difficult to repeat numbers. In fact, the now three-time world champion admitted, quoted on RacingNews365.com, that he expects a more balanced field next year, rejecting the idea that the goal is necessarily to win more in 2024:
“Realistically, it can’t get much better than what we’ve done. But I believe it’s not always about trying to win 20 races, it’s also about trying to find improvements within yourself and within the car. If that means we actually improved the car and can fight for the title again, but only win ten races, that’s fine too. The competition around us has been very up and down, one weekend it’s this team and the next it’s another team. So, I hope that next year, people are also learning a lot from this new regulation, so naturally the field is a bit more balanced.”
